What happens at camp?
Junior Camp is for the kids 8 through 11. Teen camp for those 12 through 17 years. This is an overnight camp where campers come to spend the entire week sleeping in a cabin with adult and older teen cabin leaders/as
sistants and other campers of the same gender and similar age. We spend our days eating 3 meals, doing the chores to clean-up after, playing team games, swimming, going to two chapel services each day (we have amazing speakers that captivate the kids - they really enjoy the worship singing
and listening to the speaker's challenging message), visiting the Snack Shack, having an evening snack and campfire, learning new skills like canoeing or crafts, having small amounts of free time, and making good friends.
Our main objective with this outreach is to demonstrate and teach kids that the same God who created them also loves them and desires a personal relationship with them. Our church motto is "To Know Christ and to Make Him Known" and that is what our camp team lives by. We want kids to know Jesus!
What does it cost?
Our camp is very unique in that there are no fees - our church covers the cost of our camp through donations from people who believe in our mission and campers' parents who donate when they bring their kids to camp. Providing there is space, every kid can "afford" to go to camp!

What's the camp's history?
Camp Shekinah started in 2006. We rent the facilities of the Moose Lake Baptist Bible Camp (owned by the Mallaig Baptist Church) for two weeks (third and fourth weeks in July) each summer, one week of 'Junior Camp' and one week of 'Teen Camp'. The camp is possible only because of volunteers who put in time as cooks, cabin leaders, skill instructors and everything in between.
